Emailens

A hosted alternative to Mailpit, with the rendering check

Emailens checks your email before your client opens it: a free account catches test mail at a private @try address and checks it in 21 simulated inboxes (five without an account). Dev adds sandbox SMTP. It does not run offline on your own machine.

The checker needs a computer screen.

Mailpit is the better tool if

  • You want a mail catcher that runs on your own machine, offline, with nothing hosted. Emailens is a hosted service.

Emailens is the better tool if

  • You want test mail caught and checked in every simulated client in one place (a private @try address, Free; sandbox SMTP, Dev).
  • Your tests wait for an email and read the code or link in it (sandbox API, Dev).
  • You want a pull request to fail when an email breaks in Outlook (GitHub Action, Pro).

Do you keep real screenshots? Paused for now.

Real-device screenshots are paused while we move them to a new provider; they will be back on Dev and Pro. Here is the Emailens probe for one feature on real installs, beside our simulation.

border-radius:

Works in 16 of 21 · partial in 4 · not supported in 1

Three clients, picked by one rule: the one where border-radius is not supported, one where it is partial, one where it works. Where it is supported you should see rounded corners.

Moving over from Mailpit

  1. Create a free account and send a test email to your private @try address.
  2. Point your app's SMTP settings at the sandbox (Dev).
  3. Wait for the email in your tests and read its code or link through the API (Dev).

Questions

What do I lose moving from Mailpit?
Running offline on your own machine. Emailens is hosted, so it needs a connection, and your test mail lives on our servers for as long as your plan keeps it.
Can Emailens receive mail from Supabase or Auth0?
Yes. Every account gets a private @try address that receives mail from the internet, so an auth provider can send its confirmation or reset email straight to it, with no tunnel.
Can I try Emailens without paying?
Yes. The checker needs no signup: five clients, 3 checks a day, results kept for an hour. A free account opens all 21 clients and keeps your checks for 7 days. It allows 30 checks a day. Real-device screenshots are paused while we move them to a new provider; they will be back on Dev and Pro.
Which plan does the GitHub Action need?
Pro. The Action's pre-send gate is a Pro feature: on Free and Dev it answers "The pre-send gate is available on the Pro plan."

  • Mailpit: no feature claim about Mailpit has a recorded source yet, so the Mailpit column reads "not checked". Where we say Mailpit is the better tool, that is our reading of what it is built for, not a checked feature list. We list competitor prices only with a source and the date we checked.
