Partial in Gmail Android, Gmail iOS, Outlook (New), Outlook Classic and 5 more, behavior differs from browsers, test before relying on it.
Outlook Classic (Word engine, supported to at least 2029) does not fully support display, and its replacement changes little here; see the deprecation diff.
Across all clients, only 6 of 298 tracked HTML/CSS features render identically everywhere.

Documented caveats (4)

1.Gmail Android, Gmail iOS: Partial. flex, grid, flow-root, contents, inline flow-root, inline flex, inline grid, initial, revert, unset are not supported with non Google accounts.
2.Outlook (New), Outlook Classic: Buggy. display:none does not inherit to inner tables. Partial. Only supports display:none (but not on <img>).
3.Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Mail Android, Yahoo Mail iOS, AOL Mail: Partial. flow-root, inline-flex, inline-grid, inline flow, contents, revert are not supported.
4.Fastmail: Partial. Two-value syntax are combined into a single one with a dash.
